Basketball Game Preview: Carlsbad Lancers vs. Santa Fe Christian Eagles

The Carlsbad Lancers will face off against the Santa Fe Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carlsbad knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Santa Fe Christian likes a good challenge.

Carlsbad is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing El Camino: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Carlsbad blew El Camino out of the water with a 90-59 final score. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Santa Fe Christian's strategy against Maranatha Christian on Friday. Santa Fe Christian came out on top against Maranatha Christian by a score of 61-49. Given Santa Fe Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Maranatha Christian is ranked 413th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carlsbad's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.8 points over those games. As for Santa Fe Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which somehow still isn't as good as their 22-6 record this season.

Carlsbad strolled past Santa Fe Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2022 by a score of 64-48. Will Carlsbad repeat their success, or does Santa Fe Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
