Recap: Reagan Bison vs. Divine Savior Academy Sharks
The Reagan Bison's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They took a hard 33-14 fall against Divine Savior Academy. Reagan was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Divine Savior Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Several Bison players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrea Alvarez, who scored two points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Alvarez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Naranjo-palma, who scored seven points along with six steals.
Divine Savior Academy found their leader in underclassman Alessia Silva, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Mueller, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Reagan bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Divine Savior Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reagan won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sunset at 5:00 p.m. on January 10th. Hopefully Sunset focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Monday. As for Divine Savior Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against St. Brendan at 5:00 p.m. St. Brendan presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Divine Savior Academy in Florida (St. Brendan is ranked 256th, while Divine Savior Academy is ranked 573rd).
