Baseball Recap: Riverdale Takes a Loss

Mercer County hit Riverdale with a six-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 9-8. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Tyler Nadolson led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Huffman, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Riverdale's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Mercer County, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-15.

Looking ahead, Riverdale will challenge Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Mercer County will be paying especially close attention to Riverdale's contest: after Riverdale faces off against Hall, they'll take on Mercer County again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
