Baseball Game Preview: West Warriors vs. Mira Costa Mustangs

West is 2-8 against Mira Costa since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Warriors will welcome the Mustangs at 3:15 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (West 4, Mira Costa 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

West is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Redondo Union.

Reef Sharman and Alberto Gomez did some serious damage despite the final result: Sharman went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Gomez went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mira Costa waltzed into their match on Saturday with 16 straight wins... but they left with 17. They put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 14-1 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

Mira Costa's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for West, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
