Basketball Game Preview: Central Fellowship Christian Academy Lancers vs. Gatewood Gators

Two dominant guards in Brayden Emory and Matt Allen are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Central Fellowship Christian Academy Lancers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Gatewood Gators at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, everything came up roses for Central Fellowship Christian Academy against Mount de Sales Academy as the squad secured a 71-43 victory. The Lancers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central Fellowship Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zaiden Nelson, who posted 11 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Nelson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Judson Walls, who put up nine points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Central Fellowship Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Gatewood beat Trinity Christian 68-60 on Tuesday. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Crusaders are ranked 574th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gatewood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Central Fellowship Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Everything came up roses for Central Fellowship Christian Academy against Gatewood in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, as the team secured an 83-55 victory.
