League recap: Gridley climbs in state rankings

Gridley moved up to 739 from 839 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Butte View. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Anderson 36-26.

Sutter added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Orland, 21-18. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Huskies.

Gridley's dynamic duo of Emery Haddy and Shobi Khan proved tough for the Cubs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Haddy threw for 133 yards and 42 touchdowns and Khan had 128 yards receiving.

Jacob Lowrie provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Winters beat Las Plumas. He completed 7 passes for 130 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 181 yards. Lowrie's favorite target this week was Ben Case, who caught 3 passes for 81 yards.

Jordan Samson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Wheatland defeated Oroville. The 6-foot-1 senior racked up 1 sack.

5-foot-10 quarterback Randy Post of Sutter is the league leader in passing yards this season with 879. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kavi Ram. The Orland star has 25 catches for 361 yards.

The Warriors are in first place, while Ryan Reynolds' team is in third place.

The Pirates took down the Tigers 40-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jackson Hopking threw for 107 yards and 3 touchdowns during the win.
