Baseball Game Preview: Farmville Central Jaguars vs. Goldsboro Cougars

The Farmville Central Jaguars will square off against the Goldsboro Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Farmville Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Farmville Central's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Rosewood as they made off with a 9-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Trey Williford was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has become a key player for Farmville Central: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 3-4 otherwise. Williford was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Joe May looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Brett Cash was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson Howell, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Goldsboro took on North Johnston on Thursday. The Cougars fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-1. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

Goldsboro's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Farmville Central, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
