After a string of four wins, La Crescent's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 58-48 to the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Cougars are ranked 69th).

La Crescent's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Crescent will square off against St. Charles at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. St. Charles knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 contests -- so hopefully La Crescent likes a good challenge. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, they will face off against Dover-Eyota at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
