The West Valley Christian Warriors will take on American Leadership Academy in a holiday battle at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Valley Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season.
On Monday, West Valley Christian came up short against Roosevelt Preparatory Academy and fell 63-53. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, West Valley Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gerald Minott almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Minott has scored all season. Finn Van Ness was another key player, putting up 12 points.
Meanwhile, American Leadership Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past BASIS - Ahwatukee 71-51. American Leadership Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.
West Valley Christian better keep an eye on CJ Christopher Williams. He was instrumental in American Leadership Academy's win, shooting 70% from the field to rack up 39 points in addition to eight steals and seven assists. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of American Leadership Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Jerico Nicoll, who posted ten points and five steals.
American Leadership Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 20 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.
Having lost for the first time this season, West Valley Christian fell to 4-1. As for American Leadership Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-0.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: West Valley Christian has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 40.6 boards per game. However, it's not like American Leadership Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 52.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
