Volleyball Recap: Southeast Falls Short of Port Charlotte in the Playoffs

Southeast and Port Charlotte squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Southeast had to settle for second. They fell 3-1 to the Pirates. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Seminoles of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Port Charlotte scored at least 21 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-21, 17-25, 25-23.

When it comes to explaining why Southeast lost, don't look at Mellise Bush. Despite the final result, she had 15 digs and three assists. Bush has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last four times she's played.

Southeast's loss dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Port Charlotte, their win bumped their record up to 11-15.

Southeast does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Port Charlotte, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Braden River on the 16th.
