Baseball Game Preview: Roncalli Jets vs. Reedsville Panthers

The Roncalli Jets will square off against the Reedsville Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Roncalli's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Sheboygan Falls. The Jets haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Reedsville waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Lancers as they made off with a 9-1 victory.

Lucas Lodel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Dvorachek, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Ben Prochnow was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Roncalli pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Reedsville, their win bumped their record up to 14-6.

Roncalli skirted past Reedsville 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Will the Jets repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
