Hoke County hadn't beaten Southern Lee on the road since March 18, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Bucks blew past the Cavaliers 8-0. The Bucks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Niya Jones, who gave up just five hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Southern Lee off the board. Jones has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hoke County got a big performance out of Kalea Parker, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most hits Parker has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaniya Mclean, who scored three runs and stole three bases.
The win (which was Hoke County's fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Lee, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Coincidentally, Hoke County and Southern Lee will both be playing Union Pines the next time they take the field. The Bucks will host the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Cavaliers will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
