Ann Wolff put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over nine innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. Wolff was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Emma Andrews was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Danielle Eckenstahler was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run.
Grayslake Central's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-9. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Round Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
Round Lake's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Grayslake Central, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Round Lake continue to outrun the ball?
