Basketball Recap: Jaedon Ward's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Legacy over Chatfield + How To Watch

Legacy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chatfield Chargers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lightning have suffered since January 10th.

Legacy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaedon Ward, who shot 42% from the field on his way to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The game was Ward's third in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Devan Kirchhevel, who posted nine points along with six boards and four steals.

As for Chatfield, the victory was the fourth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering their considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Legacy is ranked 131st).

Chatfield found their leader in sophomore Nolan Feddersen, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Feddersen is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 17 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Logan, who earned 11 points and five boards.

Legacy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-49 win against Mead on the 11th. As for Chatfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 87-60 victory against Bear Creek on the 11th.
