Basketball Recap: Cissna Park Falls Short of Lexington in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cissna Park can now relate to. They fell to the Lexington Minutemen 50-45. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 666th in Illinois, while the Minutemen are ranked 199th in Illinois).

Lexington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blaine Friedmansky, who went 7-for-14 on his way to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Joe Cheever, who went 6-for-8 en route to 12 points and six boards.

Cissna Park has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 18 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-24 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.9 points over those games. The victory was the third in a row for Lexington, bringing their record for this year to 26-7.

Cissna Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lexington, they will take on Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
