Football Recap: Syracuse Comes Up Short

Syracuse dropped to 5-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They were dealt a 54-22 defeat at the hands of the Davis Darts. The contest marked the Titans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Syracuse still got an impressive performance from Ryker Van Komen, who rushed for 107 yards and one TD, and also picked up 31 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Syracuse's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Xander Garcia and Luke Stringfellow, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Garcia was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making eight total tackles.

As for Davis, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Considering they have won four matchups by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Davis' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tradon Bessinger, who threw for 504 yards and five touchdowns while completing 78% of his passes. Those 504 passing yards gave Bessinger a new career-high. Jaxton Itaaehau was in the mix too, providing Davis with two scores.
