Football Preview: Douglas Trojans vs. Siuslaw Vikings
The Douglas Trojans will challenge the Siuslaw Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, Douglas needed a bit of extra time to put away Sutherlin. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 41-40 win over the Bulldogs. The Trojans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Ryder Sawyer produced another solid effort throwing for 234 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 91 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. What's more, he racked up 137.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Douglas' leading receiver Reese Willis was Sawyer's top target yet again, picking up 70 receiving yards and two scores.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Siuslaw over South Umpqua in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Vikings blew the Lancers out of the water with a 48-13 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
Siuslaw found their leader in sophomore Jericho Lake, who threw for 214 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Siuslaw now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Douglas, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
