Denver Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chris Janssen, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Janssen has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Dayspring Christian Academy waltzed into their game on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Everything went their way against the Bobcats as they made off with a 10-3 victory. Considering the Eagles have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Josiah Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Gavin Bohl was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gage Davis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Dayspring Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
Dayspring Christian Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Denver Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Denver Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Dayspring Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Denver Academy couldn't quite get it done against Dayspring Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
