Baseball Recap: Borah Comes Up Short

If Borah was riding high fresh off their 14-1 takedown of Mountain Home last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions fell just short of the Capital Golden Eagles by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Golden Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Brady Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Borah saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Gross, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Gross hit this season.

Borah's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Capital, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-5.

Coincidentally, Borah and Capital will both be playing Centennial the next time they take the field. The Lions will head out to face the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Golden Eagles will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
