Basketball Game Preview: Bowdon Red Devils vs. Warren County Screaming Devils

The Bowdon Red Devils will square off against the Warren County Screaming Devils on Saturday. Bowdon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Warren County likes a good challenge.

Bowdon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 74-59 win over Treutlen. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Red Devils' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Vikings are ranked 436th).

Bowdon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zayland Allen led the charge by dropping a double-double with 31 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Allen has scored at least a third of the Red Devils' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 16 boards.

Bowdon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 14 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Warren County posted their closest victory since January 3, 2025 on Wednesday. They slipped by Seminole County 47-46. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Screaming Devils.

Warren County's win bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Bowdon, their victory bumped their record up to 24-4.

Bowdon couldn't quite get it done against Warren County when the teams last played back in February of 2021 as they fell 80-70. Thankfully for the Red Devils, Lorenzo Johnson Jr. (who shot 54% from the field en route to 37 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals) won't be suiting up this time.
