Basketball Recap: Ava Bills Key Part of a Team Effort in Golden Eagles Win

Guerin Catholic had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 51-39 win over the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves on Friday. This was payback for the Golden Eagles, who suffered a 55-31 loss the last time these two teams met.

Guerin Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Bills, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 19 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bills has scored at least a third of Guerin Catholic's points. Another player making a difference was Caroline Ford, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds.

Despite the loss, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory still got an impressive performance from Robyn Pate, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Miller, who scored seven points and three steals.

Guerin Catholic's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-9. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they dropped their record down to 11-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
