Basketball Recap: Vernonia Sets Scoring Season-High Against Nestucca

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vernonia). They slipped by the Nestucca Bobcats 70-69 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Loggers: when they faced off against the Bobcats back in January, they had to take a 68-42 loss.

The victory made it two in a row for Vernonia and bumps their season record up to 7-15. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points over those games. As for Nestucca, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-12.

Coming up, Vernonia will challenge Gaston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vernonia is facing Gaston at the right time seeing as Gaston is stuck on a 24-game losing streak. As for Nestucca, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Knappa at 7:30 p.m. Nestucca is on a three-game streak of home wins, Knappa a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
