Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Culver Academies). They came out on top against the Jimtown Jimmies by a score of 74-65 on Friday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Jimmies are ranked 206th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Jimtown still got an impressive performance from Branden King, who went 14 for 23 on his way to 36 points and eight rebounds. King is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Javen Jackson, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points and three steals.
Culver Academies has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Jimtown, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-5.
Culver Academies won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tippecanoe Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Jimtown, they and South Central will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. South Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
