Football Recap: Wilson Takes a Loss

Wilson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Bell Gardens Lancers 50-19. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly 31 points.

Brian Silva and Avery Carbone certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Silva picked up 75 receiving yards and one touchdown, while Carbone rushed for 49 yards. Silva really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 75 yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jacob Lewis, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 13 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Silva, who ran a punt back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a kickoff return touchdown from Lewis.

Wilson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bell Gardens, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Wilson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 17-7 win against Montclair on the 12th. As for Bell Gardens, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 16-6 loss against Jordan on the 12th.
