Football Recap: Ella Rieben Key Part of Team Effort in Rebels Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Arvada West, Columbine was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They managed an 18-12 win over the Arapahoe Warriors. The Rebels have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

Columbine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ella Rieben led the charge by throwing for 219 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of her passes. Rieben didn't just play on offense: she also made two total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging two interceptions. Jordyn Washington was another key player, picking up 83 receiving yards and one score.

Columbine didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Arapahoe to a completion percentage of just 45.7%. The team can thank Annalee Rippe for the heroic effort on defense: she. Columbine wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 73.3%.

Columbine didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Rieben led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself.

Columbine's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Arapahoe, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Columbine wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 26-12 win against Dakota Ridge on the 8th. As for Arapahoe, they will challenge ThunderRidge at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grizzlies' defense has only allowed 13.5 points per game this season, so the Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them.
