Tri-Central extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-12 in the process. They fell 8-3 to the Rossville Hornets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
Tri-Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Cherry, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was Cherry's first of the season.
As for Rossville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.
On Rossville's side, Nolan Britt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, Britt posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Andrew Woolen was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Eli Barnes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Coming up, Tri-Central will challenge Eastern at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Comets will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rossville, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-5 defeat against North Montgomery on the 17th.
