Football Game Preview: Sheridan Yellowjackets vs. El Dorado Wildcats

Sheridan is 1-9 against El Dorado since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Yellowjackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Sheridan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully El Dorado likes a good challenge.

Sheridan is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Sylvan Hills on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Yellowjackets took a blow against the Bears, falling 84-48.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Zay Stephens, who rushed for 108 yards and two TDs, and also picked up 30 receiving yards and one score. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 108 rushing yards. Another passer making a difference was Easton Barksdale, who threw for 401 yards and five touchdowns.

Meanwhile, El Dorado made easy work of Jonesboro on Friday and carried off a 44-21 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won three contests by 23 points or more so far this season.

Sheridan better keep an eye on Cannon Jacobs. He was instrumental in El Dorado's win, throwing for 193 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushing for 94 yards. Jeremy Samuel was another key rusher, rushing for 105 yards and one score.

The victory made it two in a row for El Dorado and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.5 points over those games. As for Sheridan, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
