Baseball Game Preview: Daviess County Panthers vs. Ohio County Eagles

The Daviess County Panthers will face off against the Ohio County Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Daviess County will be strutting in after a victory while Ohio County will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Daviess County turned things around against Murray on Saturday. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 5-2.

Ben Watkins tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Daviess County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Russelburg, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs Russelburg has posted since April 2nd.

Meanwhile, Ohio County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Muhlenberg County.

Ohio County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Daviess County, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

Daviess County took their victory against Ohio County when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
