Football Recap: Mount Desert Island Trojans vs. Yarmouth Clippers

Mount Desert Island extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-5. They came up short against the Yarmouth Clippers, falling 36-12. The Trojans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Clippers from their previous meeting back in September of 2022.

As for Yarmouth, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.6 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Yarmouth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Jabar, who picked up 116 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Jabar's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 105 receiving yards. Another passer making a difference was Ignatius (Iggy) McGrath, who threw for 270 yards and a pair of TDs.

Mount Desert Island wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 46-8 win against Houlton on the 30th. As for Yarmouth, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 44-14 loss against Mt. Ararat on the 31st.
