Basketball Game Preview: Rich Rebels vs. Tabiona Tigers

Rich has gone 8-2 against Tabiona recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rich Rebels will head out to face off against the Tabiona Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rich comes in on eight and Tabiona on nine.

Rich's tournament run continued when they took on Farson-Eden on Saturday. Rich put the hurt on Farson-Eden with a sharp 54-34 win. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Rich found their leader in sophomore Braylyn Pugmire, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Those 21 points gave Pugmire a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Weston, who posted nine points and five steals.

Rich smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive games.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Tabiona over Tintic in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Tabiona blew Tintic out of the water with a 65-23 final score. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Miners are ranked 112th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tabiona pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Rich, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.

Rich was able to grind out a solid victory over Tabiona in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 46-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rich since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
