Basketball Game Preview: Elkhart Lions vs. Penn Kingsmen

The Elkhart Lions will take on the Penn Kingsmen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Penn is hoping to do what South Bend Adams couldn't on Saturday: put an end to Elkhart's winning streak, which now stands at five games. Elkhart couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 67-39 blowout they got against South Bend Adams.

Penn's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Northridge on Tuesday. Penn breezed by Mishawaka to the tune of 63-12. With the Kingsmen ahead 44-6 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Penn is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Elkhart, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6.

Elkhart didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Penn when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 49-44 victory. Does Elkhart have another victory up their sleeve, or will Penn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
