Volleyball Preview: Arlington Spy Ponders vs. Methuen Rangers
The Arlington Spy Ponders are taking a road trip to square off against the Methuen Rangers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Arlington is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 13-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Arlington is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since September 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Watertown with a sharp 3-0 victory.
Meanwhile, Methuen can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They came out on top against North Andover by a score of 3-1.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 22-25, 25-19, 25-21.
Elizabeth Descheneaux was her usual excellent self, getting ten kills, six aces, five digs, and a block. She is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michelle Baez, who had 14 digs and three aces.
She wasn't the only good server: Methuen was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 11 consecutive matches.
Arlington's win bumped their record up to 2-11. As for Methuen, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
