Soccer Game Preview: Ursuline Academy vs. Sanford

The Ursuline Academy Raiders will head out to square off against the Sanford Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Ursuline Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: St. Mark's, who was ranked third at the time (Ursuline Academy was ranked 24th). The Raiders fell 2-0 to the Spartans on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Sanford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 11-2 to Wilmington Friends.

Sanford's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Ursuline Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Ursuline Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Sanford when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
