Basketball Recap: Northwood Takes a Loss

Northwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Ottawa Hills Green Bears and fell 54-17. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 754th, while the Green Bears are ranked 356th).

Ottawa Hills was led to victory by Kendell Skiver and Sophia Vanslooten. Skiver almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals, while Vanslooten went 8 of 16 on her way to 20 points in addition to five boards and five steals. The game was Skiver's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Berenzweig, who posted six points and nine rebounds.

Northwood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Ottawa Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Northwood will look to defend their home court on December 28th against Start at 7:00 p.m. Start will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Northwood surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ottawa Hills, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 38-33 loss against Danbury on the 21st.
