Basketball Recap: Clifton Central Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

It was a good run, but Clifton Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 55-35 to the Manteno Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Comets have suffered against the Panthers since December 13, 2014.

Manteno's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddie Gesky led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Gesky is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last four games she's played. Emily Horath was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 12 points and four steals.

Clifton Central's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8. As for Manteno, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clifton Central will face off against Tri-Point at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manteno, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Manteno Panthers take on the Lisle Lions at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
