Baseball Recap: Rio Grande Comes Up Short

Rio Grande and Centennial squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Rio Grande had to settle for second. They fell 8-5 to the Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 on Friday.

Rio Grande saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Brettelle, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Andrew Salas was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Rio Grande and nudges their season record down to 17-11. As for Centennial, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-6.

Rio Grande does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Centennial, they will square off against Rio Rancho at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
