Recap: Vanguard Knights vs. P.K. Yonge Blue Wave
The Vanguard Knights suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. Their tough 56-32 defeat to P.K. Yonge might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Vanguard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while P.K. Yonge is ranked 70th).
P.K. Yonge found their leader in underclassman Ashlyn Young, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Young is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Reniyah Clark, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Vanguard's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for P.K. Yonge, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home.
Vanguard will take on Citrus at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for P.K. Yonge, they will head out on the road to square off against Wildwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wildwood is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
