Baseball Game Preview: Central City/Centura Kernels vs. Lincoln Christian Crusaders

The Central City/Centura Kernels will face off against the Lincoln Christian Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Central City/Centura comes in on 16 and Lincoln Christian on four.

Central City/Centura is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Malcolm, who was ranked fifth at the time (Central City/Centura was ranked sixth). The Kernels walked away with an 8-4 win over the Clippers on Saturday.

The team relied heavily on Luke Vakiner, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Christian posted their closest victory since March 22nd on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Lincoln Northwest 3-2.

Lincoln Christian's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kale Bryson, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Central City/Centura pushed their record up to 16-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Lincoln Christian, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Central City/Centura has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lincoln Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts.
