Softball Recap: West Linn Gets the Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but West Linn ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Oregon City Pioneers 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won five in a row.

Meadow Sanborn looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Piper Ruthrauff and Kendall Atwood did most of the damage at the plate: Ruthrauff went 3-for-6 with one home run, while Atwood went 3-for-6 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Atwood is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Vivienne McGraw was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

West Linn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2025.

West Linn's record is now 19-2-1. As for Oregon City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. West Linn will face off against rival Tualatin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 2.5, the Timberwolves 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Oregon City is set to challenge their familiar foe Tigard at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
