Softball Recap: Pine River Area Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Pine River Area waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Montabella Mustangs with a sharp 9-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bucks, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kylee Mumby was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Raegan Wanstead, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Mariah Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Pine River Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Pine River Area's record now sits at 19-2. As for Montabella, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine River Area will challenge Lake City at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Montabella, they will venture away from home to challenge Fulton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
