Basketball Recap: Lakeland Comes Up Short

Lakeland lost against Walter Panas back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lakeland Hornets lost 56-30 to the Walter Panas Panthers. The match marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Walter Panas was led to victory by Sofia Tavarez and Cadence Nicholas. Tavarez went 7 for 14 on her way to 18 points along with six assists and five boards, while Nicholas went 8 of 16 en route to 20 points and five rebounds. The contest was Tavarez's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jill Cinquina, who posted nine points and six boards.

Lakeland's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Walter Panas, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland will challenge Greeley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Walter Panas, they will take on Somers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
