Baseball Recap: Winfield Comes Up Short

Buffalo hit Winfield with a five-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Generals took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bison. If the Generals were looking for revenge after losing 6-5 to the Bison when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Preston Keiffer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Cruz Davis also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Winfield and nudges their season record down to 13-5. As for Buffalo, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winfield will take on Charleston Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Irish's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Generals' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Buffalo, they will face off against Chapmanville Regional at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
