Baseball Game Preview: Hancock Panthers vs. Berkeley Springs Indians

The Hancock Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Berkeley Springs Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hancock will be strutting in after a win while Berkeley Springs will be coming in after a loss.

Hancock will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Mountain Ridge, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Panthers came out on top against the Miners on Thursday by a score of 3-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since April 17, 2024.

Blaire Ray made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Ray was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Hill, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Berkeley Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 24th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 13-2 to Hampshire.

Berkeley Springs saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Stotler, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Stotler's first of the season.

Berkeley Springs' loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Hancock, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Hancock was able to grind out a solid win over Berkeley Springs in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
