Basketball Recap: Atmore Christian Takes a Loss

Atmore Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They fell to the East Hill Christian Eagles 55-50. While the Rams didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 12-8 in the first quarter.

East Hill Christian found their leader in sophomore Hudson Hooten, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Hooten has scored at least a third of East Hill Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dwight Baldwin, who posted six points and four steals.

Atmore Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for East Hill Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Atmore Christian will be taking part in a tournament against Victory Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Victory Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for East Hill Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Gulf Pointe Latin at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
