Basketball Recap: Baltic Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Baltic can now relate to. They fell just short of the Dell Rapids Quarriers by a score of 35-32 on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Despite the loss, Baltic still got an impressive performance from Kellen Artz, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Artz has become a key player for Baltic: the team is 8-4 when he posts at least ten boards, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ben Erickson, who posted ten points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Baltic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Dell Rapids had a senior duo take command as Tad Tjaden dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds and Jack Kloth earned six points along with nine blocks and seven boards. Kloth is crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Baltic dropped their record down to 12-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Dell Rapids, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-9.

Baltic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dell Rapids, they will take on Rapid City Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Rapid City Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 matchups.
