Marion had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Centralia Orphans a 1-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Marion's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Centralia, they moved to 19-3 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Marion will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Orphans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
