Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bishop Manogue walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Douglas Tigers on Friday as they made off with a 9-3 win. The Miners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.
Sammi Boggs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Reese Vaulet was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Sanchez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bishop Manogue kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Douglas only managed four hits.
Bishop Manogue has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-10-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Douglas, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-10.
Bishop Manogue didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-8 loss against Spanish Springs on the 9th. Douglas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
