Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Redwood

Redwood entered their tilt with Marin Catholic on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 9-2 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-1 last Tuesday.

Matthew Knauer looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Redwood's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 4-5-1 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Theo Trono was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Redwood: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Miles Harrison, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Redwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Redwood's record is now 7-5-1. As for Marin Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Coming up, Redwood will take on Heritage in a tournament on Thursday. As for Marin Catholic, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on San Rafael at 4:30 p.m. on the 15th.
