Softball Game Preview: Ridgeland Titans vs. Warren Central Vikings

Ridgeland is 0-8 against Warren Central since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. Ridgeland has given up an average of 16.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ridgeland had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Vicksburg put an end to it on Tuesday. The Titans lost 18-2 to the Gators.

Sarah Caldwell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, Warren Central hadn't done well against Neshoba Central recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Vikings walked away with a 10-6 win over the Rockets.

Madison Pant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Warren Central let Sydney Hern and Mari Kynlea Ferguson run wild. Hern went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Ferguson scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Ferguson a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was MC Allred, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Warren Central is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgeland, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
