Findlay and Springfield are an even 4-4-1 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Trojans will square off against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Findlay has four straight victories, Springfield has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Findlay beat Northview 9-5.

Springfield couldn't beat Emmanuel Christian on Thursday even though they stacked six runs on them in the third inning. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 9-8.

Landon Gurzynski was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cale Whitmire made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Max Sherrick also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Findlay, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Everything went Findlay's way against Springfield when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Findlay made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
